Free Poker Online Master Uncovers The Easiest List Of Poker Tells

Tuesday, December 6th, 2011

In face to face poker room games it is easier to read your opponents than is the case online. When you play online, you can’t see body language for example.

However It can be done and in this free online poker tells list article you will learn how to pick up tells in online poker room games.

Player Speed
Every player has a time limit in which to make their move before being auto declared either all-in or folded. As such speed of play can be a good tell.

A lot of the time if a player makes a fast bet it is a sign of weakness, slow speed though often indicates strength because the player is busy figuring how best to play their good hand.

So with speed, look for how fast or slow your opponents are, better still, if you can see what their cards were at the showdown you can try to figure why they took the time they did and once you know that it can help you next time round especially when they deviate from that pattern.

Don’t forget about your own speed of play too. Do you give away speed tells? A good strategy is to try and take the same amount of time for every action, or, if you are true genius, mix up speed regardless of your hand.

Check Boxes and Auto Plays
A lot of poker rooms online have check boxes to allow players to set automated fold, raise any or call any instructions.

If a players actions are always immediate then that is a sure sign they have these functions on. If a player has checked “raise any” it indicates a strong hand. If they are checking right away all the time then they are likely to be weak.

If it is “call any”, then the chance is good that it is a draw hand that is not completed but definitely not ready to fold.

These are not 100% certain Tells (there is no such thing) but over time you should be able to get a good success rate.

Opponents Fold and Flop Percentage
You can’t mark this percentage exactly but over the course of several games you should be able to get a sense of if a player folds a lot of trash hands or if they stay in most pots.

Lots of folding is the sign of a good and patient player whereas the one who stays in to the bitter end too much is a player you can smash when you have a good hand.

Chat Box
Generally, if a player chatty player suddenly goes quiet he may well have got good cards.

On the other hand if a player is betting and gets aggressive or very confident, this can often be a sign of bluffing in that they hope you’ll think they have it made and you’ll fold.

The Tilted player is a chat classic that you can take advantage of a lot, they’ve maybe had a hand that would normally win beaten and are really annoyed and emotional. Tilted players can’t play good poker until they calm down so it’s a great time for you to push them into making errors.

Not Waiting for the Big Blind
You will often have the option to wait for the big blind to get to you when you join a table, or you can choose to post a matching big blind so you can get into play right away.

The player who can’t wait to get started is an impatient player and impatience in poker is a very bad thing. Expect such a player to be a loose player.

However players who wait are either patient or cheap which are both good qualities for online poker as both tend to wait on better hands.

Novice Tells
Free online poker, micro and low stakes games will exhibit a lot of these.

Beginners often bet with weak hands and bluff weakness with strong hands. When you get pocket Aces do not slow play them. A lot of novices will slow play such pockets and find themselves getting beaten on the flop, turn or river by players who make straights and trips.

Many beginners wait 1 card after they pair up cards before betting which can be seen and used against them

For example, the player gets a King on the flop and checks. The Turn shows a 2 yet the player starts betting hard.

It’s really not likely that having a pair of 2s would induce this so it is very likely that he paired Kings on the flop. Bet it if you’ve got it.

Getting good at spotting tells and hiding your own takes practice so get on to some good free online poker games at NoPayPOKER.com or low stakes games at places like PartyPoker and get practising today.

Poker Free Online Simple Guide To Implied Odds And Pot Odds

Friday, November 25th, 2011

Is poker luck or skill? This is a debate that seems to have no end. For many new and poker free online players who don’t know what they’re doing it’s luck.

For players who play with logic and common sense it’s a skill game and one core part of that skill game is some simple math that allows the player to essentially create their own luck. We’re talking of course about pot odds, implied odds and rounding.

Pot Odds refer to the number of chips that sit on the center of the board due to bets, call, raises etc. The total of all those chips represents the size of the present pot.

For example – There are 400 chips in the pot and you are considering a call of a 100 chip bet. This means you have Pot Odds of 4 to 1, that is, the 400 chips in the pot divided by the 100 chips that you need to bet.

Implied Odds
Is the total of the chips held by your competitors plus the number of chips in the table center post versus what you need to use in order to play on. For example, you and 2 other players are left in a hand.

Player a has 2000 chips, Player b, 3000 chips. The pot has 1,000 chips. Should you need to call a 400 chip bet this means you have Implied Odds of 15 to 1. This comes from the 6,000 chips total between the 2 other players and 1000 in the pot vs the 400 chips you need to use.

Rounding – Making Life A lot easier
When you get your 2 pocket cards, 50 cards remain unseen so you will use 50 as the basis. You don’t need to worry that this changes to 47 unseen post flop, 46 post turn etc. We stick with 50, it is close enough and makes life a lot easier.

Example – You get King/Queen unsuited, and the flop shows Ten, Jack, Four rainbow (an unsuited flop). This means there 8 ‘outs’ (chances open) for you to get an open end straight draw; the 4 nines and 4 Aces that are unseen.

This means there’s an 8 in 50 probability of getting an ‘out’ on the turn; this equals 16 in 100, 16% or in other words a 1 in 6 chance of a card we want coming up.

In this example, if you’re not getting a minimum of 5 to 1 Pot Odds there is no sense chasing the 9’s and Aces. But 5 to 1 Pot Odds vs the 1 in 6 chance only makes you dead even long term.

When playing with Pot odds you need to look for advantage with every bet. If 5 to 1 is dead even, then 7 to 1 is a 40% advantage, 9 to 1 a 80% advantage. As a rule, if you have a good Pot Odds advantage play it, for me 45% is my comfort level but you may find yours to be more or less, only game time will tell you what your OK level is.

However, it’s not Pot Odds that are going to result in ultimate success. For big success and to beta up on both good and bad players requires timely application of Implied Odds which, at the right time, can be a lot more powerful than simple Pot Odds.

In the example used above, Pot Odds may dictated we fold. But, we might be playing against a ‘raise with any pocket ace donk who may have a stack many times larger than the pot. With our open end draw, any 9 or Ace on the turn or river will allow us to eliminate this player.

Wise players will figure both Pot and Implied Odds in their hands while being sure not to take excessive risks. If the Pot Odds are ‘respectable’ meaning within 25% of ideal and Implied are good then go for it but be sure to practice on free poker games first! I hope this guide to pot odds was useful, see NoPayPOKER.com for more poker free online training lessons.

Play Free Poker And Learn How Why Putting Players On Hands To Often Can Kill Your Chances

Sunday, January 30th, 2011

I’m frequently astounded by how quality poker players, even free online poker players are able to stick opponents on hands with such regularity and almost uncanny accuracy. However, overusing this maneuver, especially during tournament poker, can also cost you your chips. It is a particular danger if you are playing when tired. Read here what one player did; probably he is already exhausted so he committed an untimely mistake, I hope seeing this will help you avoid such a situation and save you some money or if you’re in free poker games your chips.

BLINDS 3k/6k

PREFLOP:

A has Kd-Kc, raises to 16k
B has Ad-9d, is on BB, calls10k (Pot 44k)

A’s standard raise (about 2.5x the big blind) raise is intended to hide the particular strength of his hand. B’s call is discounted, so he makes it.

FLOP: 9c-5h-Qh

A bets 22k
B calls 22k (Pot 88k)

The 22k bet appears to be a continuation bet in a Flop which is not so likely to hit anyone, and at this point B may think A is on a draw (a Flush draw or a Straight draw) and so calls in order to try to improve his hand.

TURN: 9c-5h-Qh-7c

A bets 109k

What did A want to do with his 109k bet in a pot of 88k?

Let’s see, before we see what B does:

Question: Was he signifying that he hit a Nine-high Straight?
Answer: Possibly, since there are 2 Flush draws on the table that could threaten his Straight if he keeps going to the River. He wants to end the hand, or he wants to give insufficient odds for anyone with a Flush draw to call. Or, he may be representing all these.

Question: Might he have A-Q or something?
Answer: No idea! Maybe I put him on that hand on the Flop, but I was not putting him on that hand after the Flop. Would he pile up 109k on just A-Q? What if I have K-K? He doesn’t know what I have; I called at a reduced price from the BB. Also, favorably, he may have a 10-9 or J-9, and I have a huge advantage.

Question: What else do you think he had?
Answer: A Flush draw or a Straight draw. In either case my pair of Nines is leading, so I call.

Question: Even though it’s for all your chips?
Answer: Here is the best hand I’ve had for hours!

B calls all-in 109k (Pot 306k)

But he forgot to ask himself if A might have KK or AA. If you followed the hypothetical question and answer above, what B’s answers meant is that B was looking at the Board and that he now believed that A ’s cards are related to the Board in such a way as to Pair up one of A’s cards, complete a five-card hand (Straight or Flush) or a potential five-card hand. The fundamental error being made is that B was only thinking about the board and not what A’s hand may be and, in doing so forgot to put A on other hands that might not be so readily matched to the Board cards. And also, he was tired, fatigued, and so called with a marginal hand to have it over with and was knocked out of the tournament.

So make sure when you play not to overplay and play tired and if you are keep back to basics or play free poker else your brain may play tricks on you. And if you’re new to internet poker then you do get mind fried more rapidly so try some how to play poker for beginners games and free poker classes first before stepping into lengthy tournament poker games.

How To Play Poker For Beginners Lesson On How To Play The Board Scaring Bluff

Saturday, November 27th, 2010

This play poker online free article is about why you may try what I call the board scare bluff on a paired board such as 8-8-Q or K-K-6, 5-6-7-8 or Ac-Kc-5c-8c. In the first two Boards, it is because the mere thought of you having an Eight or a King will scare them off. Simply that, just the thought of it!

So if you bet strongly, you change your opponents mindset. They will think you must have an 8 or K even if you don’t and may well fold their A-Q, for example.

On my 8-8-Q, this is why my opponent has to be scared if I have the Eight: If I have the Eight and he has A-Q, he is almost drawing dead. Only another Queen is going to help him make a better Full house and win.

If he had J-10 his calls (after his checks) will be very reluctant because he can complete a hand only from a gutshot, and that is unfavourable for him. Moreover, if he completes the Straight on the 8-8-9-Q board, I might have 9-8 (which no one knows if I have) for a Full House which will demolish his Straight.

So my bluff is useful for the 8-8-Q. As for the K-K-6, my bluff is fine too because the players always think that you play big cards a lot more than small ones, and one could be a King (which, again, no one knows if I have), and very few will be courageous to stay with a Six, because I can batter him two more times.

Now to the other two Boards.

In the event the Flop comes 5-6-7 and I put my opponent on 7-6 (as a result of, maybe, a bet or a raise) I can call. Because if the 8 comes I’ll bet strongly, even if I do not have the Nine, because his strong play on the Flop may mean that he has a made hand already, now on the Turn, only one card can destroy him, and he’d better be careful.

And if he had a Nine he really should have checked or called only on the Flop, because he has just a gutshot.

The same idea also goes for the Flush board. Additionally, if your opponent is a strong player and he has, say, 6c-x (maybe 6c-5c because he is a strong player who plays connectors), on a board like Ac-Kc-5c-8c, they have still reason to be scared, and a strong bet can drive him off.

Why? Due to the fact his Flush kicker is only the 6c, and you may well have 7c or higher, even if you don’t, or even though you do not have a Club. His Flush is good only for call-calling or check-checking, not for strong betting, raising, or all-ins.

Once you know which boards are ideal to bluff, you are able to steal lots of pots. What if all your aggressive play is finally discovered? Say, 9-9-6 comes. You raise heavily again. The opponent now thinks your aggressive plays are simply bluffs, so he plays back.

You now get paid off more handsomely because there is a 9-8 or A-9.

But what if you’re the one put into a choice with the A-Q on an 8-8-Q board? Say you bet, he then raises heavily. Should you call, you may as well be all-in on the Turn, because you’re nearly out of chips.

So you need to decide whether or not to move all-in now. Should you?

If you have A-Q, you have Queens up, top kicker (Ace), and you certainly can hope that he has only a little pocket pair (say 10-10), a draw (say J-10), or Q-x (x is a lower kicker), and you may move all-in. If you’re scared of him having the Eight, make him also be scared of your potentially having it, too. Even if no one has the Eight.

Or you can move all-in first making him fold (unless you suddenly have that read on him, or he is a bad player playing all sorts of rowdy hands).

Free Poker Games Guide To Poker Table Position

Sunday, October 24th, 2010

Position, be it real life or online poker virtual, means the seat you have at the table relative y´to the other players. Be it free poker online or a money game your position indicates when you will act in a poker hand. In normal game of 9-12 players, in any given hand round of betting, it works like this:

(1) Early position is made up of the first three or four players to act.

(2) Middle position includes the following player after early position to the player before late position.

(3) Late position is the last three or four players to move. Preflop, dealer, small blind, big blind is the order of action.

Postflop, the small blind and the big blind are first to play, and the dealer is last to play.

How does position matter?

There are some very definite advantages and disadvantages. The majority of players prefer playing late position. Simply this is because you have a better insight into the other players by the time play comes round to the late positions.

In late position, the actions of the earlier position players may well have revealed certain hints about their situation to you. But the player in early position do not have the benefit of information derived from your actions.

For this reason most players (especially good players) don’t like letting go of their button (dealer button) unless they’ve got absolute trash. They call a little raise with any decent hand like 9-7 or A-5 (but not extraordinarily big raises, naturally).

In early position, in a nine-handed game, suppose you have got Q-J, a marginal hand, under the gun (the first person to play preflop).

Are you going to raise? There are still eight players after you to act, and you will have a better chance that they’ll have better hands than you. (A-x will have you beat). So fold.

In middle position, you can call one raise, or you can raise; you are indifferent.

With the button, you raise if no one has acted before you (you can steal the blinds this way). Or call if someone raised small (because you have position).

With the blinds, you call (because it is discounted) but you have to be careful with postflop play because you are out of position postflop. Or you may also reraise a raise if you believe the raiser was weak (raising with junk is prevalent in good players in late position who want to steal the blinds habitually).

Position also matters a lot when playing with players who have a fixed style.

- It is a good idea to act before a rock so that you can bluff him more easily.

- It is better to act after a loose-aggressive chip flinger so that you can raise him if you hit the Flop hard or if you have A-A, then expect a rereaise and you’ll be able to move all-in.

- Against a calling station, it doesn’t matter where you sit – just bet if you have a hand and then expect a call.

As for the really good players, your ideal position should be outside the poker table. Don’t tangle with them. If you can’t avoid it, then play in an unpredictable fashion, and take advantage of the times you are acting after him.

This point moves us away from table position in to a more strategic level so I won’t expand on it here except to say, choose your games wisely. Don’t play above your skill level except when deliberately practising with money you have set aside to lose or better still on free poker games tables such as the NoPayPOKER ones.

Play Free Poker Games Guide to How Win a Poker Fortune

Monday, June 28th, 2010

I can imagine a free online poker player on http://www.NoPayPOKER.com who, after watching some episodes of the World Series of Poker or the World Poker Tour, suddenly gets ‘inspired’ and tries out one of the big advertised poker sites. As luck would have it he gets dealt 4-4 and, just like a pro he just saw moves all-in early position in the belief that it is a great move. As any experienced poker player will tell you, yes, it could be a good play but not all the time.

As it is, the overenthusiastic free online poker player loses a large stack, it costs him hundreds of dollars in real money.

Instead may I suggest that the best thing to do is to practice these “pro” plays on free online poker, so that mistakes can be learned from? He can play free poker games get knocked out, learn from it and still have hundreds of dollars left.

Play Free Poker Games is also a great way to build a bankroll, if you don’t have one, and if you play long enough. And you will learn to play poker for free and learn from your mistakes and those others make. Sure, you can try playing your Q-7 offsuit and then flop a Q-5-3 and then get called by A-Q later or K-K – that is when you realize your Q-7 is trash, and you ought not play it again.

Of course, you can watch someone else play the Q-7. He may flop Q-5-3, as above, or even A-J-7. Now you know you have him, because you have K-K (in the first flop) or A-K, or J-J (in the second). Now you remember the times when you win, and when you recall these times every time a similar situation arises, you will win the pot. If you play free poker long enough you will see what these situations are and then be able to characterize them like this: On the first flop, it may be ‘Playing Overpairs’; on the second, it may be ‘Playing Top Pair’ or ‘Playing a Set’.

There is, however, a downfall if you are not careful: Suppose you play 3-2 off and you win. You might think 3-2 off is a good hand, and then suddenly you rush to play real money poker. You lose. You think, “How would 3-2 be harpooned in this board! This just won last week!”

If you are observant enough for a long time in playing free online poker you might notice plenty of players doing the same (playing bad hands) and they win. You can watch if they are winning consistently or not, and oftentimes they don’t. Someone plays 7-2, the wins; someone plays it again later, then loses. When you play free poker games it may not yet teach you that A-10 is sometimes dangerous to play after a raise because it might be a better Ace, but it teaches you what hands to avoid and what to play.

In free online poker you should not just play any old hand. You must play as if it is really big money at stake. Play only good starting hands. If you keep playing bad starting hands without the ability to represent them (and representing hands is not so practical in free poker because many free poker players play just any hand, bet when they hit the Flop and throw when they don’t) you will be a bad player sooner.

Regarding this, here is another point, indeed this is the key point that will win you a lot of money:

Many free online poker players are novices and maniacs so if you take your time and master free poker you will know how to beat them.

Next, you will find when you move on to lower stakes real money you will mostly be facing these very same type of novice and maniac who have watched too much TV, and what do you think will happen then?

That’s right, your hard earned free poker skills will trash them and they will “donate” their stacks to you time and time again!. And as for the really good players, it’s so easy – avoid them unless you have the nuts.

This article is by NoPayPOKER, the perfect learn to play poker online free site for beginners to play free poker games without risking any cash. For more experienced poker players the draw is in the ability to fine tune game play and techniques in a totally no risk zone while collecting free online poker cash at the same time.

A Simple Free Online Poker Sit N Go Strategy

Thursday, May 13th, 2010

Sole table competitions or sit and go as they’re also known can earn some decent cash with no thought before play. I personally love playing the free online poker sites and also the low stake (up to ten dollars) sit and go websites. I have my methods on how I play these different games which I will share.

Solid and Tight early on.
By playing this way you must play a decent hand near the start of the tournament. Your place at the table is critical- Paris from twenty two through ninety nine, I call and then up to three times the big blind. A bigger raise and I fold them.

Big pairs such as 10/10, Jack/Jack, Queen/Queen, King/King & Ace/Ace I will always call for a raise on a short table.

Be prepared to call an all in with any of those. Hands like QJ, QK, KJ, and A 10 I play like small pairs and fold to raises larger than 3 times the Big Blind.

Now the hands that can get you into trouble.
I will explain to you in this next part some of the cards which may leave you in despair. Ace/Jack, Ace/Queen & Ace/King- you really have to understand when it’s best to fold these cards. Don’t get me wrong they’re brilliant cards when there’s just a hand full of opponents remaining, however during the opening they’re no good to any pair.

Learn to lay them down in the early part of a free poker tourney. One of the things I also do until the last 3 and in the money is show my winners. The table see’s Those KK and trip 7’s and so on. And I haven’t bluffed on a single hand…Yet. That comes when only 3 left. No more show and tell.

This sets up some great steals. All they have seen is winners from you…they have no reason to believe you don’t have them now.

By only playing premium hands in the early stages you allow the “Bingo” players to play themselves out. Chances are by playing Solid and Tight you will have the opportunity to take one or two out yourselves.

The bottom line is- you’re playing to win- and by winning you hope to make some money, and making money on the sit and go games takes a lot less effort. The majority of the time the top three will get some money and by coming third you normally break even. Therefore making the cash is crucial to doing well in sit and go poker games.

Another factor in play is a pet peeve of mine. I cannot count the times I have seen a table fold to a dead seat. There is nothing like seeing a deadhead getting free chips. The key factor here is PAY ATTENTION. You have to be in the game and not on vacation.

Add with this there are always the common sense fundamentals when playing for money. I’m one of the old school and being in my fifties I have seen the game evolve in many forms over many decades. To quote one of mu idols “No limit holdem can be taught in half an hour but can take over a lifetime to master”.

To this I’d add, when you start or if you’re already familiar with poker but struggling – go and practice on micro/low stakes or free online poker site tournaments. There are some great ones out there and you can play loads with little or nothing at risk and in doing so really build your confidence and skills before starting to risk it bigger.

Free Poker Online Tips to Understanding the Difference Between Bad Losses V Decent Playing

Sunday, April 11th, 2010

Like anything in life; you have some decent days and some terrible days. Poker is just the same regardless of the way you play; be it at a casino or playing free poker online. Regrettably it’s more often than not the decent cards you end up folding with, while the awful losses end up getting you especially because you were in fact trying to play the hand.

What I’ve learned is how you can play your lovely pocket pairs but they rarely hit vs playing those crappy hands like a 6 2 or a 4 9 but those pocket aces your bad beats will lost while those hands u fold are crap til that flop appears.

Why does this happen? Why is the luck always on someone else’s side? Why does poker do this to the good players while the donks well, they constantly hit with the pockets while you lose? This is called bad beats vs donks at this point. As those donks keep playing like utter crap, you go what the hell is this?

What I’ve learned is when you play online verses in person you will encounter more bad beats online and lost to those donks that love to all in verses in person everyone plays tighter than those pair of jeans that you wear that are 2 sizes too small but you insist they fit… just like you insist a pair of pocket aces will fit.

The bottom line to all of this is obvious- Poker is life- exciting, has its highs and its low points and usually unpredictable.

Poker and free poker online are interesting as you are oblivious to the cards that are about to be dealt. Just like everyday life it’s the small variable decisions that can either work for you or work against you and turn your day into one horrible bad beat.

Free Poker Tips – Guide to Playing with Big Pairs

Tuesday, March 16th, 2010

In this free poker article we discuss how to play with big pairs like AA, KK, QQ and JJ

With the best hand, AA it is very important to look for big raise or re-raise if someone raises before you. It is a mistake in strategy with AA to just call a raise because you are missing the opportunity to get more money into the pot with the best hand and more important thing is that you are giving players with weaker hands the opportunity to improve their hands on the flop.

Your goal is to force others to fold or to think you are bluffing with one big card or two big cards and call your big raise. It is important when playing with AA not to slow play with small raise so you won’t allow your opponents to improve on the flop and maybe on future streets and also you will thin out number of opponents.

After the flop you should do big raise not giving anyone chance to call for any straights, flushes or drawing hands for small amount of chips. However, there is always possibility that one of your opponents has made a better flop and so you should be aware of the fact that you may no longer hold the best hand. But in spite of this, you will normally still be ahead and so you should continue to build the pot unless you are quite sure that you are no longer ahead.

Raising before the “flop” with cards such as King / King, Queen / Queen or Jack / Jack is a good idea. Imagine if a player has an Ace with a lower card, the odds are on your side that you will face better cards than this before “the flop”. By raising will lower the amount of players who want to see “the flop”- you want to cap the amount of players who your playing against with either of these card duo’s as the opposition can effortless end up with better cards by receiving an Ace on the “flop”.

There are 2 scenarios which the “flop” creates- you will either turn overcards or you won’t. When there’s no overcards on the flop you should carry on raising. The 2nd scenario when overcards are on the table is a lot harder to play. I recommend to raise a three or four times a large blind and then consider your options after the opposing player responds to the raise. If they call be careful and bide your time as you don’t have the highest chance of taking the money in any more scenarios. If the pot keeps getting larger you must be ready to let the hand go.

Although it’s not an exact science playing with big pairs if you go for right raises before flops you have a better chance of taking the money. One thing to think about though is the possibility that the opposing players could have better cards than you; especially if they’re playing strongly, gambling and raising too.

I look forward to seeing you at the free poker tables soon!
