Those who are insightful and sensible enough to take note of the troubles we have created for our own planet, are now extensively taking step towards a more careful lifestyle, an eco friendly lifestyle. Like charity, everything good begins at home but speaking of bringing this revolution to the public, it is wisest to begin with a place possibly most visited, the restrooms. That doesn’t mean buying wind turbines and solar panels especially for the restroom. You can just start by minimizing energy and resource utilization in the restrooms and what other place consumes more water and power? Restrooms are hence a great starting point for the green revolution in your office or building or any public place. And you will have more or less everything eco friendly to replace everything not green in the restrooms, from paper towels to Paper towel dispenser and from soap to Automatic soap dispenser. Everything can be replaced by eco-friendly stuff.
You know you have to limit your energy consumption and you know you have to go with the eco friendly products but there is surely more points to be realized in order to correctly get an idea of how to do it. Here are a few tips to turn the restroom into a eco friendly Restroom.
• Firstly, take note of what it is composed of. If you want your restroom to be eco friendly make sure it is eco friendly. Not necessarily green paint to be used but be assured that whichever color you pick, it is an environment friendly low VOC paint you use. Avoid using vinyl as it is not ecological or reusable. Try tiles instead, tiles can be used again for variety of purpose.
• Secondly, restrooms are big water wasting area and most of the water is flushed down the drain. The most sensible thing is to use low flow taps or showers, wherever needed. Try changing the ancient five gallon flushes with the new 1.6 gallon flush tanks. They are more [efficient|better} even with a low water consumption. Be careful about what you flush, products such as plastics can choke down the drains and turn out to be a big eco catastrophe.
• Use environment friendly handwashes and cleaning products, starting from the soap, use the hand washer which is made of no or less chemical substances. That would be a great help not only for the earth but also to your own self. You can find many less harsh cleaners on the shelves that will leave fewer footsteps on our atmosphere.
• Automatic restroom is a waste free restroom, touch free dispensers ensure that smaller quantity of soap or handwashers is used. Automatic dryers save a good amount of energy as well. These touch free toilets have proven to save a good percentage of water, energy and product being wasted.
• Go for energy saving lights, fans and other appliances. Might be a little expensive but will save a lot of money and energy in a long run. One main point is to have the restroom build in a way that it allows good passage of light and air. This will minimize immensely the requirement of turning on the lights and exhaust.
• Just a little more caution in buying the janitorial items can also save a lot of water and resources. Using microfiber clothe and mops is far better than using the regular clothe as they absorb more water and washing requires less water.
So these were only a few basic points one should remember in order to encourage green living further than the limits of own house. If sincerely dedicated to the cause, you will never get short of greener methods and stuff to spread the awareness through a place probably most visited in public places.
