Your room may look perfect, but aren’t you ignoring something essential? Are your pillows matching with your room décor? If not, then why not make decorator covers that go well with your bedroom or living room. You can try a couple of fancy or easy patterns according to your wish. The concluding part, however, is closing up the gap by stitching it. The space is concealed by the hand blind stitch, which only requires hand and you don’t have to fix sewing machines for the purpose. The correct stitches must be invisible on the pillow cover, which explains the name of this kind of stitching. Now you are free from sewing machine repair as you won’t need those gadgets for this type of stitching.
Initially let’s have a look on what the requirements for hand blind stitch are. There is not much stuff to collect. All you need is a thread of the similar color as the pillow, needle, scissors along with an iron. In order to give finishing touches to your pillow, apply the hand blind stitch keepin in view the following steps:
• You have to press beneath the edges of the fabric surrounding the space. The ideal time to do this is the moment you are just going to place the pillow covering over the pillow. The pressed areas will assist you in stitching.
• Then you have to cut a thread that is about 15 inches long. Pass the thread from the needle’s eye so that you get a double thread with same lengths, then fasten the ends of the thread making double knots.
• Keep your pillow on your knee with the space open towards you. Pass the needle from the fabric on one place and draw it along the other side of the opening. Make sure to pull out the needle from the point where you pressed the fabric. This way, you can hide the knot of thread and afterwards continue stitching the fabric at the right edge of the opening.
• After that, make a tiny stitch with the needle on the other side of the fabric, just under the press region on the fabric. Stitch just across the opening such that the material joins and creayes approximately 1/8 inch long stitch.
• Move your needle a single stitch back on the original side
of the fabric at the spot where you pressed. In doing so, remember to make the stitch through the opening once more.
• Carry on with the stitching of the two sides of the fabric through the opening. It must be accomplished in a back and forth direction through the opening until you make it shut.
• In the end, fasten a knot on the needle’s termini of the thread such that it rests on the fabric. Pass the needle through the pillow to create an inch long stitch and bring the needle back once more. Cut the thread just over the pillow cover. The last stitch buries your knot invisibly into the pillow.
The moment you have a ornamented pillow on your bed side, all you have to do is a hand blind stitch to give it some final touches.
